Hi & welcome to Stephen Evans’ woodturning and photography website!
Throughout a successful career in mobile and remote satellite communications I spent some of the little spare time I had to become a woodturner and photographer. As a result I have been making creative designs and compositions for over 30 years. To hone my skills I attended a number of of professional seminars and applied a combination of practice and experimentation to create unusual and attractive pieces. As far as possible I use locally felled woods, some tropical woods and a diverse range of recycled acrylic, wood and metallic materials. I often incorporate magnets, LED’s, ball bearings and semi-precious stones . I am a member of the Surrey Association of Woodturners and have consistently won awards and prizes for my work. I also won the 2018 advanced woodturners competition and I am now a Master Turner at the Berkshire Woodturning Association. I am also a member of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain and a member of the American Association of Woodturners.
I also use a carving chainsaw and modified angle grinders to create garden sculptures.
